The monograph studies the art song (AS) as part of the Russian-speaking poetic culture in general. It considers variants of the concept of AS, investigates the dominant within the opposition “text / music”, the influence of linguistic and extralinguistic factors on the perception of the AS genre. It highlights the history of development and evolution of the AS genre; describes essential features of the idiostyle of several significant authors within the genre.
