The publication highlights and analyzes the formation and activity of the Mogilev Belarusian Committee (1917–1918) in the context of national self-identification as well as the formation of the Belarusian statehood and civil society in the early twentieth century. It is the first attempt in Belarusian historiography to do thorough staged research into the organizational, cultural, educational and socio-political activity of one of the most successful Belarusian organizations of the revolutionary epoch, release numerous documents of the Committee, reveal sources of the spiritual support of the Belarusian statehood and Belarusian People's Republic in particular by residents of Mogilev.
It is addressed to scholars, university teachers, historians, students as well as to all those interested in national history.
