At the beginning of July, the University hosted a regular meeting of the Mogilev Scientific and Practical Optical Seminar organized by the Department of Physics and Computer Technologies. This time the seminar was held in an expanded format with the involvement of colleagues from Tambov State University named after G. R. Derzhavin and the Department of Natural Sciences of Mogilev State A. Kuleshov University.
The event is held on a regular basis with a frequency of at least twice a year and always causes only positive emotions from its participants. Many experts leading scientific research in the field of optoelectronics, nanophononics and laser physics come together to discuss current problems of modern optics to share their ideas, discuss new results, give advice and show their vision of the problem under discussion.
The main topic of the seminar was the discussion of issues related to the creation of waveguide biosensors and their practical use in such fields as medicine, criminology, biology and the gas industry. Representatives of the Department of Natural Sciences, who work in the field of biotechnology and immunology, actively participated in the discussion.
The range of issues under consideration raised a number of questions from colleagues who participated for the first time and led to a constructive discussion, during which areas of further cooperation in this area were outlined.
In conclusion, Elena Timoshchenko, Head of the Department of Physics and Computer Technologies, summed up the results of the scientific meeting, made suggestions on the formulation of topics for discussion in next Mogilev Optical Seminar and noted the undoubted positive results and prospects of such meetings.
