On 25 January, a fascinating workshop on Chinese dumpling making was held in dormitory No. 3 of Mogilev State A. Kuleshov University. Our Chinese colleagues Wang Xiaomei, director of the Confucius Institute on the Chinese side, professors Zhang Rui and Chang Likun, master degree student Yan Jing, shared their knowledge and secrets of preparing dough and various fillings for perfect dumplings. The participants of the event, who were the students of the Faculty of Foreign Languages of Mogilev State A. Kuleshov University, learnt that dumplings symbolize financial prosperity, well-being, good luck, and it is an obligatory dish of the New Year's table and family celebrations.
The students enjoyed the atmosphere of Eastern culture, tried their hand at creating perfect dumpling shapes. The event ended with dumplings tasting and tea ceremony with Belarusian sweets and homemade cookies.
Workshop was not only a great way to spend time, but also allowed the participants to learn more about Chinese culture and cuisine of the countr.
