The photo exhibition “Sweden through the eyes of Belarusians” and “Sweden in Belarus” opened yesterday at Mogilev State A. Kuleshov University. In the exhibition there are about 30 photos made in different genres. This portrait, and landscape, even reportage work, as well as fashionable street-photo. The name of the exhibition speaks for itself — Sweden through the eyes of a Belarusian tourist. Despite the fact that this Scandinavian country is not far from Belarus, we know little about it. For some, Sweden is a great hockey team, which the Belarusians once managed to win; for others it is the country of Astrid Lindgren and Tumas Transtremera. In any case, many will be interested to see how today the cities and villages of Sweden look like, what is rich in this country. Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Sweden in our country, Mrs. Kristina Yuhannessan, who attended the opening of the exhibition, in this way commented on the idea of its creation: “Belarusians and Swedes are in many respects similar. However, these are still different peoples and different philosophies of life. It was very interesting for us to look at our country from a different angle, to see ourselves from the outside. In addition, it was extremely interesting to comprehend the image of Sweden, which, of course, is present in the minds of the Belarusians”. If indeed a certain image of Sweden exists, it is extremely diverse — from small and partly patriarchal towns to large metropolises like Stockholm. Still Belarusians paid attention to the colorfulness of the Swedish landscapes and the beauty of the girls there, whose portraits are quite numerous in the exposition. In general, it's better to see everything with your own eyes ... To try the taste of Sweden, beaten off on glossy paper, is easy enough. To do this, you need to come to the main building of Mogilev State A. Kuleshov University and visit the audience “201” (it is on the second floor).
